GENERAL INFORMATION



Ataturk University Foreign Student Examination (ATAYÖS) is an exam directed towards foreign students who would like to study undergraduate or graduate studies at Ataturk University or any other Turkish university which accepts ATAYÖS.

  • The exam will be held in 4th of June 2017 and the language of the exam will be either Turkish, English or Russian.
  • The exam score will be valid for a year.

    APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS



    All the applications from Turkey and from abroad must be done through the following link: http://yosbasvuru.atauni.edu.tr/. The applications are accepted only within the application period.


    In order to be registered to a programme after the placements, which are done according to ATAYÖS exam results, students must have the requirements given bellow. Each applicant must submit the required documents during the registration.



    All the applications are eligible on condition that the applicants are either last year students or graduates and the applicants who have the following requirements will be accepted:

    a) Those who have a foreign nationality,

    b) Those who were born as Turkish citizens but later permitted by the Ministry of Interior of Turkey to leave Turkish citizenship, including their underage children who are registered for leaving Turkish citizenship and who can certify that they have the document regarding the Exercise of Given Rights, pursuant to the Turkish Nationality Law, (The 7th article of the Turkish Nationality Law numbered 5901 prescribes that “(1) an infant born from the marriage of a mother or a father having Turkish citizenship inside or outside Turkey is a Turkish citizen”; applicants who would like to apply for the quotas of foreign admission should further review the Turkish Nationality Law.)

    c) Those who used to have a foreign citizenship but later acquired Turkish citizenship, those who have a dual citizenship under these circumstances,

    d) Those who have Turkish citizenship and have completed the last three years of their secondary education in a foreign country except Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) (including the applicants who completed their secondary education in Turkish schools in a foreign country except TRNC) before 01/02/2013,

    *e) Those who started and completed their secondary education in a foreign country except Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) after 01/02/2013 (including the applicants who completed their secondary education in Turkish schools in a foreign country except TRNC), Those who used to have a foreign citizenship but later acquired Turkish citizenship, those who have a dual citizenship under these circumstances,

    f) Those who have TRNC citizenship, reside in TRNC, have completed secondary education in TRNC and have obtained GCE AL degrees (The General Certificate of Education – Advanced Level), and those who have or will have GCE AL degree after registering and getting education in the colleges or high schools in other countries between 2005 and 2010.

    All the applications are ineligible on condition that the applicants have the following requirements:

    a) Those who have Turkish citizenship and have completed secondary education in Turkey or in TRNC,

    b) Those who have TRNC citizenship (excluding those who have completed secondary education at TRNC high schools and have obtained GCE AL degree and those who have or will have GCE AL degrees after registering in the colleges or high schools in other countries between 2005 and 2010),

    c) Dual citizens whose first citizenship is Turkish from birth, as prescribed in article 2.1./b of this guide (except those who fulfill the requirements in 2.1/d),

    d) Dual citizens who have TRNC citizenship (excluding those who have completed secondary education at TRNC high schools and have obtained GCE AL degree and those who have or will have GCE AL degrees by registering in the colleges or high schools in other countries between 2005 and 2010),

    e) Those who are Turkish citizens or dual citizens whose first citizenship is Turkish as prescribed in the article 2.1./b of this guide and have studied or are currently studying at foreign embassy schools or foreign high schools in Turkey.

    * The people who are innate dual citizens and who have completed secondary education in Turkey cannot apply. The people who are living in abroad but who have Turkey secondary education certificate cannot apply.

    APPLICATION PROCEDURES



    All applications are made within the country and abroad, only from http://yosbasvuru.atauni.edu.tr/ address. If you do not make your application between 21 February 2017 and 16 April 2017, your applications will not be accepted. Candidates should be carefully fill and register online at http://yosbasvuru.atauni.edu.tr/ within the application period.


    All liabilities that are caused by entering wrong personal or academic information to the application system will be in the responsibility of the applicants. Personal data in the application system should exactly match with the applicant’s passport information (name, surname etc. and no use of abbreviations). Once registered on the system, the applicant cannot change/update the personal information.


    The phone and e-mail details on the application system should belong to the applicant and only one e-mail address should be provided. The applicant should not use the phone number or e-mail provided for someone else.


    All applicants should upload a head shot that is taken within the last 3 months in the format of JPEG or PNG. The head shots should be suitable for use in visa or identity card procedures.


    Students’ validation links and candidate numbers will be sent to their e-mail adresses when the students log in the system. Students can active their page by clicking on this link. If the student does not receive a validation code, at first she/he has to check his/her Spam or Junk boxes. If student does not find an e-mail in those boxes, s/het has to send an e-mail to yos@ataun.edu.tr address and indicate his/her problem. In 5 minutes, student has to click on the ‘Send Validation Code’ link again.


    After activating his/her account, student can make the exam application from ATAYÖS-2017 APPLICATION link. Student’s ATAYÖS-2017 application will be completed after exam fee payment and controlled by student’s advisor.


    The applicant number will be given only once to the applicants. Applicant number should be stated in all correspondences with Atatürk University.

    APPLICATION FEE



    Exam fees depend on the country where the exam is held and are given in the table below

    Exam fees cannot be transferred to coming years. The exam fees paid by applicants:


  • who withdraw even if they pay the exam fee,
  • whose application disannulled,
  • who do not attend the exam,
  • who are not accepted to the exam,
  • who failed the exam,
  • whose exam disannulled are not refunded. Applications will be disregarded if the applicants do not pay the exam fee.
  • If the exams are cancelled in the centers that the applicant choose by Ataturk University, the exam fee will be refunded. Apart from this situation, the exam fee is not refunded. The exam fees are refunded according to currency exchange rate of that date.


    The following points must be taken into consideration while paying the examination fee within or outside Turkey:


    Exam fee must be paid through online system. Candidates must have credit card or debit card (Visa or Master) in order to make online payment.


    EXAM CENTERS



    The applicants are asked to choose two exam centers. If the application number is less than 10 for the applicant’s first choice, the applicant is guided to his/her second choice. If the application number is also less than 10 for the applicant’s second choice, the exam is not held at that center and the exam fee will be refunded to the applicants. After you pay the exam fee, you cannot change your preference for the exam centers.


    Atatürk University has the right of changing exam centers and cancellation on exam until 15 days before the exam date. Due to these reasons, the applicants should check their choices on exam centers until 15 days before the exam date.


    EXAM INFORMATION



    Total of 80 questions consisting 40 quantitative and 40 qualitative questions will be asked under the headings of basic learning skills. Results will be graded out of 100 points.

    For students who want to enroll English programs, there is a 50 question English test included in the exam booklet. Candidates, who prefer English programs, but don’t solve English test, their application will not be accepted.

    In order to be able to apply the programmes whose education language is English, a minimum of 70 (seventy) points is required from the English Test. If you opt not to answer the English test, you can’t apply these programmes. Students accepted in these programs, are to take Turkish and Foreign Language Proficiency Exams that will be held by the related departments of the University. Students who pass these exams can start their first year of studies, those who could not pass are to take language preparation courses.

    ATAYÖS and related procedures will be carried out according to the exam calendar.

    PREFERENCE - GENERAL INFORMATION



    Preferences will be done from http://yosbasvuru.atauni.edu.tr/ address.
    Candidates can make a maximum of 10 preferences for formal education programs, a maximum of 15 for ATA-AÖF (Atatürk University extended education faculty) programs and totally they can make 25 preferences for both of the programs.
    After placement according to the ATAYÖS Exam scores, placement can be made according to high school graduation scores for the remaining quotas in the Faculty of Open Education (ATA-AÖF).
    Students who prefer programs with special talent exams and students who are placed in these programs must be able to enter special talent exam that will be done by related unit and be successful from this exam.
    Scores obtained by candidates in the Exam, can be used by many other universities in Turkey, especially by ÜNİP member universities.
    Placement procedure: a) The students who enter ATAYOS-2017 exam will be given priority based on their grades
    b) The additional placements for the vacant positions will be made by taking into consideration both ATAYOS-2017 and the other exams which has been announced through our web page.

    The nominees who have been placed to a program must personally come and do their registration. If you cannot do so, you may give authorization to one of your relatives/friends through Turkish Consulates in your country or through one of the notary publics in Turkey.

    The students who will come to Turkey for education purposes (associate, undergraduate) do not need to apply for student visa. They can use their exam result documents to get tourist visa instead.
    The “exam result documents” can serve as acceptance letter.

    ADDITIONAL PLACEMENT - GENERAL INFORMATION



    Those who are eligible to apply for additional placement:
    1. Students who enter ATAYÖS-2017 exam and prefer Atatürk University but cannot settle in.
    2. Candidates who enter the exams of other Higher Education Institutions that Atatürk University accept on its internet page.
    3. Candidate students with a score of another international exam that announced to be accepted.

    International Exams list that are accepted by Atatürk University:
    Additional Placement: Applications can be made for retained quota with exams given below:
    SAT 1: Minimum 1000 total score and 500 mathematics score.
    GCE ( A Level) : Minimum 3 subjects at least one of them should be related to applied program with A level.
    An exam in Jordan and Palestine Tawjihi : Scientific field, the average of all courses should be minimum 80.
    International Bachelorhood : Graduation score minimum 28.
    ABİTUR : Minimum 4
    ACT (American College Test) : Scientific reasoning, Mathematics and total score is minimum 21.
    Baccalaureate Libanais (Lebanon): Scientific field and graduation scre is 65 out of 100.
    University entrance exam in people’s Republic of China (GAOKAO): According to applied program score type minimum 500 out of 750.
    Al Shahada Al Thanawiyya (Baccalaureate) Syria: Scientific field, for the engineering faculty minimum 185 out of 240.
    Al Shahada Al Thanawiyya (Baccalaureate) Syria: For other departments minimum 170.
    Al Shahada Al Thanawiyya (Baccalaureate) Libya:Scientific field for the engineering faculty minimum 170.
    International Science Olympics known and joined by TÜBİTAK :Gold, silver, bronze medal.


    YÖS (foreign Student exam) made by other Higher Educational Institutions Secondary education scores:Minimum %60 (only for faculty of distance education)
